1865-01-31 Will of Rachel (Applegate) Allen 5E7D2A

In the name of God, Amen

I, Rachel Allen of Hightsown, Mercer county, New Jersey, of sound mind memory and understanding, for which blessing I thank God, do make & publish this my last will and testament as follows, that is to say:

FIRST, I order my just debts and funeral expenses paid and deacon monument placed at my grave.

SECOND, I give Anthony Wilson son of Peter E Wilson one hundred dollars.  I give my wearing apparel to Rose Ellen Duncan wife of John Duncan of Cranbury.  I give Helen wife of Peter E Wilson all the furniture and goods I have in the northerly room of my dwelling used as my parlor.

THIRD, I also give to the said helen wife of Peter E Wilson my watch.  I give my silver tea spoons to Rachel Wilson daughter of said Peter Wilson

ITEM, fourth, I order my executor hereinafter named to sell all my real estate and lands and to give good and sufficient deeds in law to the purchaser or purchasers thereof.

ITEM, It is my will and I give and bequeath all the residue and remainder of my estate, being the proceeds of the sale of my real estate & all my property whatsoever and wheresoever not hereinbefore disposed of to Charles Nelville Allen and Rachel Wilson, daughter of said Peter E Wilson in equal portions, share and share alike, to them, their heirs, and assigns forever.

ITEM, It is my will that none of my household goods and kitchen furniture be sold by my executor, but he is hereby empowered to make division therefor among he persons entitled to receive the same as set forth in this will and testament.

LASTLY, I appoint the said Peter E Wilson my trusty friend my executor of this my last will and testament.

In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this Thirty-first day of January A.D. Eighteen hundred and Sixty five, 1865.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said Rachel Allen the testatrix to be her last will and testament in our presence who were present at the same time & subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the testatrix.  The word “Wilson” above first erased between Rachel and “Allen”, the words “son of Peter Wilson” first interlined.
