RETIRED BEVERLY BANKER IS DEAD
Beverly - Charles R. Applegate prominent retired banker, died Tuesday at his winter home in Sarasota, Fla. Death resulted from a stroke of paralysis all thought he had been in poor health for some time.
Mr. Applegate was a lifelong resident of Beverly and for many years was connected with the Citizens Bank Company in the capacities of cashier, president and finally as chairman of the board of directors. Poor health had forced his retirement. He was a leading figure in the Masonic lodge here and was for many years active in civic affairs.
Surviving are his widow and one daughter Miss Eleanor, who were with him in Florida at the time of his death.
Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Mindling funeral home here with the Masonic Lodge in charge.
Burial will be in the village cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the home from 11 until 4 o'clock Friday
