Dear Sir

I received your letter bearing date October the 3. 1828 with the contents which was forty two dollars and was well satisfied with your proseeding and return you my sincere thanks for the labour you done me

[T]he people are very healthy in this country this season we had some very hot weather in the last of June so that we heard of stage horses dropping down dead but it did not injure the wheat crops they are very good but wheat being a very low price for several years back there was not much saved [G]rain seems very scarce wheat is 54 cents per bush and still rising [T]he weavels has not injured it here but on the Miammi we hear they have injured it very much corn is a little over half crops oats very good pork is two dollars and a quarter a hundred beef two dollars the season has been unusually dry ever since harvest but we have a fine rain at present
