ISAIAH APPLEGATE’S WILL
I, ISIAH APPLEGATE of the County of Harrison and State of Indiana am sick and weak in body, but of sound mind, memory and understanding, and I ordain, publish and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament in words and form to wit:

FIRST: After my just debts and funeral charges are fully paid I will and bequeath as follows:

FIRST: I will to my wife all my real and personal estate so long as she shall live. After her decease my land shall be equally divided between my sons ANDREW and ALFRED, as follows: The north quarter to be divided east and west, and ANDREW shall have the north half, and ALFRED shall have the south half. The south quarter shall be divided north and south and ANDREW shall have so much of the west half by extending across ALFRED’S first lot as will make ANDREW 80 acres, and ALFRED shall have the remainder of said quarter.

I give my daughter ELIZABETH one bed and bedstead and the necessary bedding and one horse and cow and calf and flax and $15 dollars worth of cupboard and kitchen furniture.

I give to my daughter HARRIET the same I have given ELIZABETH.
There is to be no sale of my property after my decease. All the personal property that remains after making the disposition as I have stated I give to my son ALFRED.

In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal 24th December 1837.

State of Indiana – Harrison County: Be it remembered that on this day the foregoing Last Will and Testament of Isiah Applegate, late of said county, deceased, was produced before me, HENRY W. HETH, Clerk of the Probate Court of said County and proved by the oaths of JOHN HOGAN and SAMUEL CURRANT, the subscribing witnesses, there to be the Last Will and Testament of the said ISIAH APPLEGATE, deceased, and that he was at the time of executing the same of full age and of sound mind and memory and not under any restraint. In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribed my name and affixed the seal of our said court at Corydon, 11tyh day of Apr. 1838.
